Wasim Akram claims he bowled 'leg-breaks' in the 1987 Test: Srikkanth and Amarnath were discharged.

The legendary Pakistani bowler remembered a match from 1987 in which he bowled "leg-breaks" throughout the whole second innings and claimed the two crucial wickets of Mohinder Amarnath and Krishnamachari Srikkanth.

On August 28, Team India will play Pakistan in a thrilling Asia Cup matchup for the men. This will be the first men's cricket match between the two archrivals since the group stage match at last year's Twenty20 World Cup, which Pakistan won by 10 wickets thanks to a Babar Azam century. Since political concerns have kept matches between the two teams to international tournaments like the Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup, the buildup before every India-Pakistan match is enormous.

Indian broadcaster Star Sports has started a series of videos on its official YouTube page in which retired cricketers talk about their favorite moments from matches between India and Pakistan. Kapil Dev and Wasim Akram, two of the sport's greatest legends, discussed their favorite bouts in one such video. In the video, Akram mentioned that once, in a game between the two teams, he had bowled leg-spin for the entire innings!

We're talking about the 1987 Test in Bengaluru (then Bangalore).

After Akram said, "There was some grass on the wicket," Kapil chimed in, ".. but it was eradicated in the night before the match!"

Akram laughed and said, "But still, it was there in parts. And there was a great deal of rotation in the ball."

Kapil recalled Sunil Gavaskar's final innings in a Test match, where he got 96 runs off 264 balls, and commented that it seemed like he was batting on a different surface.

"Sunil Gavaskar has been a teammate of mine for the vast majority of my professional playing career. His final exam was today. No one could predict the flight of the ball, but Gavaskar's timing was so impeccable that it seemed as if he were batting on a separate surface. Kapil said, "We lost by like 16 runs.

Then, during the third innings, Akram admitted that he had been using leg-breaks to take advantage of the extreme degree of turn on the wicket. The pitch was turning so much in the second innings that I could only succeed with leg-breaks with the new ball. Furthermore, I took two wickets, Srikkanth and Mohinder.

When India bowled Pakistan out for 116 in their first innings, they enjoyed a 29-run advantage, but they could not exploit it. Pakistan batted valiantly, scoring 249. They then bowled India out for 204. India's Mohammad Azharuddin was the team's second-highest scorer behind Sunil Gavaskar's 96. (26).
